Panama's 10 Wonders

Last year (2009) the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP), made a national contest seeking for the Panama's Top Ten Wonders. After a local rating program the contest received a total of 3.7 million votes via the Internet and cell phone text messages and here are are the results:

1. Bayano Lake in the province of Panama,
2. The Church of San Francisco de la Montana in Veraguas,
3. Church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán in Parita,
4. The Basilica Menor Santiago Apóstol, located at Nata,
5. Los Cangilones in Gualaca, Chiriqui;
6. The Church of Santa Librada in Las Tablas,
7. Fort San Lorenzo in Portobelo,
8. Isla Pájaro (Bird Island) in Bocas del Toro,
9. Bahía Piña in Darien,
10. And all the Indigenous Regions.

Although a not nominated place, the monumental historic site of Panama a Vieja, recieved a 1, 170, 402 votes.
