San Blas / Kuna Yala

San Blas Islandsare home of the Kuna Indians, they came years ago from Colombia and they are the owners and keepers of this ecological and touristic treasure.
It is located in the northeastern part of the country of Panama, bordering Colombia and the Darien, which is another province of the Republic of Panama, rich in biodiversity and wildlife. Also shares part of the main land territory but its main attraction are the 365 islands that adorn this tropical paradise.
San Blas has an incalculable wealth of aquatic life, because the islands are bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, the warm Caribbean Sea with its beautiful coral reefs that colored the view of visitors.
Speaking of the Kuna people we can point out that they have political autonomy, that's why you might be surprise when they charge you a invented taxes, they also have autonomy in religion and creed and its traditions, that are indelible to time and each year they celebrate their traditional festivals and entertainments, one is called "Chicha" which is a party that last several days, where they all dance and celebrate christenings, menarche or first menstruation of the females, in this rites the chicha or licour is made with chewed corn fermented for several days and then shared among the guests at the sound of dances and traditional Kuna's maracas.
Their houses are also very unique because they are very basic and sometimes precarious, made of palm and no floor, just sit on the sand of the island and raise their huts there. They sleep in hammocks...
